Terms of Service
Last updated: June 22, 2026. These terms govern your use of SubCaptions. By using the site, you agree to them.
The service
SubCaptions is a browser-based tool for creating, editing, and translating subtitles and captions for video. Some features are free; others require a paid plan.
Your account
You can sign in with Google or an email link. You are responsible for activity under your account. Keep your access secure and let us know if you suspect misuse.
Plans and billing
Free has no charge. Solo and Team are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly through Stripe. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the billing portal; cancellation stops future charges and your access continues until the end of the period you already paid for. Refunds are handled case by case and as required by law.
Your content and rights
You keep ownership of the captions you create. You are responsible for having the rights to caption or translate the videos you use, and for complying with the terms of any platform a video comes from. You grant us a limited license to process your content solely to provide the service to you.
Acceptable use
Do not use SubCaptions for unlawful content, to infringe others' rights, to download or process material you do not have the rights to, to resell the service, or to abuse or overload the system.
AI features
AI translation and auto-captions are provided to help you work faster, but they can contain errors. Review the output before you rely on or publish it.
Availability and changes
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may change, add, or discontinue features.
Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SubCaptions is provided without warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Termination
We may suspend or end access for violations of these terms. You can stop using the service at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
